Eight Six #1 by Jason T Miles. Standard comic book size, 32 pages. Two color cover black and white interior. Printed on newsprint.
Every comic by Jason T. Miles is it's own universe of aesthetics and intentions. This is yet another beautiful work of art by one of the most challenging (and enjoyable!) cartoonists making work over the last decade. 86 is his meditation on bronze age black and white comic heroics, and on masculinity in general. It's an ambitious project with more issues to come, and it also happens to be a very fun comic to read. Whether it's critique of current art-comics-as-genre or a celebration of that current movement is unclear: Miles' intentions are complex, always. Get this comic, it's something else.
