The Strange Death of Alex Raymond by Dave Sim and Carson Grubaugh. $40. Hardcover, 324 pages.

Reactions to this book will vary...but it's hard to imagine anyone not having an opinion on it. I, for one, found it to be one of the most fascinating comics I've read in years. If you love comics in any way, there's a lot to enjoy here, and a lot to think about. It's a graphic novel about the metaphysical implications involved in...different inking techniques?? But this isn't a gimmick, it's treated with a lot of intellectual seriousness and questioning. You don't need to read Cerebus to get a real dose of Sim just need to read this.
