Art Comic #2 by Matthew Thurber
$8, color cover, black and white interiors. 24 pages, 6 x 5 Published by Swimmers Group
Matthew Thruber, after the tour de force of Infomaniacs, returns with a polemic/exploration of the art world. Thurber's drawing and storytelling are as sharp as ever, and his take on the art world contains a real power: it could be written off as absurd or simple parody, but there's a deeper feeling pulsating here. Thurber veers away from Clowes style ranting and into something less specific but just as scathing. I've always thought Thurbers work is at its most beautiful in comic book form, so grab this extremely low print run book before it gets collected.
