Impressions by Aidan Koch
$15, 72 pages pages. Full color. Published by Peradam Press, 8 x 6
This is Koch's third book, and it continues to show her pushing her art strongly in two directions: bold experimentation/leaving-behind-notions-of-what-makes-a-traditonal-comic alongside a concern with making striking imagery. This feels, in size and tone, like a follow up to The Blonde Woman, but there is more control of pace at play and more of a central narrative. Koch is putting out enough work at such a high level that a major project like this runs the risk of getting lsot in the shuffle---but Koch remains one of the strongest young cartoonists working today and this is a major statement.
