Misliving Amended by Adam Buttrick

Adam Buttrick's comics occupy that perfect realm of drawing (for me): bouncy, smooth and soft but completely there and solid on the pahe. His characters glide in to greet us, but you wouldn't call them showmen. There's a Beckett hurky-jerkiness to their walk. Buttrick makes incredible comics and this edition from Space Face is one of his best yet. Like Jesse McManus and David King with multiple layers of obstruction thrown in for kicks, this is the kind of book we should be pointing to when we talk about 'poetic' comics. The characters are indebted to both the past of comics and its (hopeful) future.
