Running Numbers #1 (Pittsburgh 2) by Frank Santoro. $12 . 24 pages, digest size, color and black and white.

I've long been a fan of Santoro's art, works like Storeyville and Incanto have influenced many young cartoonists to break through certain attitudes about comics while not discarding the entire base of what has gone before. Santoro, at his best, is someone who cares about every aspect of the medium: composition, color, design, and how the work arrives to the reader. This serial is one of the best things he's ever drawn, well worth the time of anyone who loves comics as much as Santoro does.
