Mimi and The Wolves Act 3 by Alabaster. 72 pages, digest size, perfect bound, black and white. $12
This is some of the finest, most natural cartooning I've seen in a while. Alabasters inky pages and perfectly designed characters (they emote in perfect cartoon language, while maintaining a complexity of what lies beneath their expressions) are fully formed by page 1. This is a story of people changing, relationships resolving and building, told with real elegance. I love looking at the characters on the page, I get sucked into their movements and the way they walk---the story is so well told it almost reads itself to you...and as you get lulled in there are some jagged bits that you collide with. A wonderful comic.
